Together, we will retrace the construction phases of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, one of the largest cathedrals in the world, and of all the religious buildings adjacent to it, symbols of religious power, Gothic and Renaissance architectural mastery, and Florence greatness.

We will continue the tour first in the Baptistery of San Giovanni, one of the oldest buildings in Florence, a wonderful treasure chest full of precious decorations and hidden symbols, and then in the Opera del Duomo museum to admire the original art works that belonged to the Duomo complex and understand how religious buildings of such grandeur were built.

After the guided tour of the Duomo complex, we will continue the itinerary with a pleasant walk through the main squares of Florence’s historic center until we reach the Basilica of Santa Croce. Its interior still preserves splendid medieval frescoes made by artists such as Giotto and Taddeo Gaddi, but above all, it houses the tombs of important Florentine men who have marked the history of the whole of Italy, such as Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei and Machiavelli.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is open every day from Monday to Saturday from 10.00 to 16.00/17.00 and on Sunday from 13.30 to 16.45.
Entrance to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is free, therefore it is not possible to book skip-the-line tickets and avoid the long queues at the entrance. I always recommend to decide at the moment whether to enter or not based on the waiting duration.
What time does the Baptistery of San Giovanni Battista and Opera del Duomo museum open and how much is the entrance ticket?
A single ticket is required to visit the Baptistery of San Giovanni and the Opera del Duomo Museum.
Open from Monday to Sunday from 09.00 to 19.00 (last admission 18.00)
Closed on the 1st Tuesday of each month.

Reduced ticket (children between 7 and 14 years old): € 5,00

What time does the Basilica di Santa Croce open and how much is the entrance ticket?
The Basilica of Santa Croce is open from Monday to Saturday from 11.00 to 17.00 and on Sundays and public holidays from 13.00 to 17.00 (last entrances 45 minutes before closing).
Closed on New Year's Eve (1 January), Easter, Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua (13 June), Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi (4 October), Christmas (25 December) and Saint Stephen (26 December).

How to dress to visit churches or museums?
