The Uffizi was built in the XVI century by the architect Vasari under request of Cosimo I, Gran Duke of the Medici Family. It was originally born to house all the administrative and legal offices of the city under one roof, but over the years, since Medici were passionate paintings and sculptures collectors, it turned into Florence most famous art gallery.

Advance reservation is strongly recommended especially in summertime and during public holidays in order to avoid the long queues at the.
